Eravikulam National Park is one of India’s most spectacular wildlife parks, located near Munnar in Idukki District, Kerala. Spanning over 97 sq. km, the park is part of the Western Ghats UNESCO World Heritage Site and is famous for its rolling grasslands, mist-covered hills, and rich biodiversity.

The park is best known as the natural habitat of the endangered Nilgiri Tahr, a mountain goat species found only in the Western Ghats. It is also home to numerous species of birds, butterflies, mammals, and rare plants, including the famous Neelakurinji flowers, which bloom once every 12 years. Visitors can enjoy eco-friendly shuttle rides, scenic trekking trails, panoramic viewpoints, and breathtaking views of Anamudi Peak, the highest mountain in South India.

The best time to visit Eravikulam National Park is from September to March, when the weather is cool and pleasant for sightseeing. Wildlife sightings are common during these months, and the landscapes remain lush and scenic.

Recommended Visiting Hours: 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM

Note: The park usually remains closed during February and March for the Nilgiri Tahr breeding season. Timings and entry are subject to Kerala Forest Department regulations.
